Moot rose through the ranks at EMI, including being made Executive Vice President of A&R for the UK and Europe in 2003.
A promotion two years later saw him become Managing Director of the UK business and President of European Creative where he was involved with the signing of acts including Avicii and Martin Solveig.

Guy Moot: appointment as CEO and co-Chair of Warner/Chappell Music
On January 9, 2019, Warner Music Group confirmed, via an internal memo, that Guy Moot was to become CEO and co-Chair of Warner/Chappell Music.
Moot took the reins of the publishing company alongside Carianne Marshall, who joined Los Angeles-based Warner/Chappell as COO in 2018 following her prior tenure as a Partner at SONGS Music Publishing.
Marshall was then promoted to COO and co-Chair of Warner/Chappell, while Moot left behind his role as President, Worldwide Creative at Sony/ATV, as well as his concurrent position as UK Managing Director of the Sony company.
The duo jointly replaced former Warner/Chappell boss Jon Platt, who became CEO and Chairman of Sony/ATV in 2019, succeeding his one-time mentor, Martin Bandier.
Commenting on joining Warner/Chappell during an interview with MBW in 2020, Moot said: “I always knew coming into Warner Chappell that it was a great and stable company with incredible catalogs and assets, and many really good people. We’ve augmented all those positive things. And I’ve gotten used to a different corporate structure, which is actually quite empowering and entrepreneurial compared to the last place.”Music Business Worldwide
