Independent record label Domino Recording Co. was established in London in 1993, co-founded by Laurence Bell and Jacqui Rice.
Today, the company has offices in London, in addition to New York, Germany and France.
Under the Domino Music Group Ltd umbrella, Domino houses a record company (Domino Recording Co.), a publishing company (Domino Publishing Co.), and a neighboring rights company (Double Six).
In its first decade Domino’s business was predominantly based on licensing music from US record labels from artists such as Sebadoh and The Magnetic Fields.
At the turn of the Millennium, Domino began to find mainstream success with its own artist signings, including Franz Ferdinand, Arctic Monkeys, Anna Calvi, and The Kills.
In January 2020, Domino cut ties with its former physical music distributor in the US – Warner Music‘s ADA – by signing a new partnership with North Carolina-based Redeye for the territory.
