Coachella will be available for free streaming on YouTube from this year through 2026 after YouTube and the event’s promoter, Goldenvoice, renewed their exclusive partnership.
Concerts and festival promoter Goldenvoice and Alphabet-owned YouTube announced this week a multi-year renewal of their exclusive livestream and content partnership for the Coachella Valley Music and Arts festival.
The 2023 Coachella will mark the 11th year that YouTube will be livestreaming the event for free for fans globally.
This year’s Coachella will run on two consecutive weekends from April 14-16 and April 21-23 and pre-sales will start on Friday (January 13) at 11am PT.
Goldenvoice released the lineup of the show over a week ago, with Bad Bunny, BLACKPINK and Frank Ocean headlining the annual event.
Other acts that will be performing include Rosalia, The Kid LAROI, Charlix XCX, Labrinth, Underworld, Bjork, Jackson Wang, Latto, Weyes Bloo, Gorillaz, Burna Boy, The Chemical Brothers, Blondie and Becky G.
Last year, the festival returned following a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“It’s an absolute honor to continue our partnership with Goldenvoice to bring the magic of Coachella to music fans around the world,” Lyor Cohen, Global Head of Music at YouTube, said.
Through YouTube Shorts, fans will be given a closer look at what is happening on the ground at Coachella.
Coachella has a dedicated YouTube channel with over 2 million subscribers. The channel features interviews with artists,
Cohen continued: “Our shared passion for innovation and connecting artists with their fans through multiple formats is the foundation of this decade-plus partnership. Coachella reminds us of what’s fun and special about YouTube and every year leaves us more inspired.”
Goldenvoice President Paul Tollett added: “Our partnership with YouTube brings Coachella to everyone around the world.”
“The 2023 lineup sees performers from Brazil, France, Iceland, India, Jamaica, Nigeria, Puerto Rico, South Korea, Spain, and beyond, and bringing international fans closer to their hometown artists is important to our team.”
In addition to livestreaming the event, Goldenvoice has also ventured into the metaverse last year to offer a multi-sensory AR experience for fans who weren’t able to attend the festival.
Goldenvoice created Coachellaverse in partnership with Meta Spark, the AR unit of Facebook parent Meta. The virtual space allowed fans to experience Coachella online.
The Coachellaverse attracted millions of fans globally, said Meta Spark last year. At the time, Meta Spark said the Coachellaverse activation “was only the beginning of a much longer-term strategy for using AR to help extend and enrich the fan experience.”
