Anghami, the biggest streaming service in the Middle East, has fully integrated a Shazam rival into its service – just as Spotify arrives in MENA.
It’s done so ahead of Apple fully integrating Shazam into its music streaming service following the $400m acquisition.
ACRCloud already works with Alibaba, Baidu, Xiaomi and more.
Anghami currently has approximately 50m total users in the Middle East, up from 30m last year.
ACRCloud is a Beijing based automatic content recognition provider.
It has indexed over 68m tracks in its music fingerprinting database, and it was ranked in audio fingerprinting technology by the Music Information Retrieval Evaluation eXchange (MIREX) in 2015 and 2016.
ACRCloud has fully integrated with Anghami, providing Anghami with the back-end music detection library as well as the ability for Anghami to recognize songs.
The Anghami Radar feature works by playing a song around you, or using your voice to search for it.
The recording then gets sent to ACRCloud automatically.
If the song is available on Anghami, the song page will open immediately so you can play it, download it or add it to your likes. If the song is not available, the song name will still be provided.
“Very excited to see Anghami brings our music recognition to the Middle East countries, it’s gonna be a new way for discovering music of Anghami users.”
