BMG has announced that UK electronic music duo The Chemical Brothers have “decided to consolidate their entire publishing catalog” at the company.
The news comes just weeks after The Chemical Brothers announced that their tenth studio album, For That Beautiful Feeling, will be released on September 8.
The deal means the duo’s first seven albums beginning with 1995’s Exit Planet Dust (previously represented by Universal Music Publishing Group) now move to BMG.
Included on those albums are the No.1 singles Block Rockin Beats and Setting Sun, plus hits Galvanize and Hey Boy Hey Girl, their most-streamed track, which has over 117 million streams on Spotify alone.
BMG says that the switch of the catalog builds on the company’s “successful work with the duo” since it signed a futures deal with them in 2015 beginning with their album Born In The Echoes.
That album, which charted in 15 countries, reached No.1 in the UK and included the hit Go, currently their third most-streamed track. They followed that with 2019’s No Geography.
The Chemical Brothers have achieved career sales of 15 million albums.
With six Grammy Awards to their name, BMG notes in its announcement that “they have won more than Elton John, The Police and David Bowie (five each), Ed Sheeran (four) and George Michael (two)”.
“To progress from a futures deal to winning the opportunity to represent their entire body of work is a significant vote of confidence and we look forward to justifying their faith in us.”
