JOB DESCRIPTION
The Head of Finance is responsible for monitoring and tracking all music revenues for Thrive Music, ensuring receipt and allocation of earnings, setting up royalty accounts and processing payments to publishers, songwriters, artists, and producers, as well as providing analytics, reporting and research. Responsibilities include day-to-day finance department activities such as processing accounts payable, reconciling bank transactions, financial analysis, reporting, projections, creating invoices, maintaining records, and handling special projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage all day-to-day financial operations for Thrive Music, including month-end close.
- Monitor and audit monthly distribution statements, neighboring rights revenue, allocate earnings and expenses to the proper artist accounts, and ensure the timely and accurate issuing of artist royalty statements.
- Generate artist statements and record royalty and mechanical royalty payments as well as tracking and allocating label revenues and costs, securing mechanical licenses using royalty reporting software.
- Producing ad hoc reports, research, projected cost analyses, calculations, and analytics as needed by the label’s CEO.
- Provide support for projects (i.e., income analysis, royalty estimates)
- Reconcile income and expense accounts.
- Prepare and post journal entries and artist account analysis.
- Preparing GL account reconciliations and analysis
- Generates invoices based on contractual payment terms.
- Creating monthly/quarterly/annual financial packages and projections.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance from an accredited university
Experience:
3-5 years relevant accounting experience at a record label.
- Must be detailed oriented, organized, and can multi-task.
- Must be a self-starter and able to begin workflow each day without supervision.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Curve or equivalent system.
- Experience with accounting software: QuickBooks or equivalent system.
- Must have record label experience.
- Candidate living in Los Angeles preferred, but outside applicants will also be considered.
