Lecturer – Music and Music Industry
The Department of Music at the State University of New York at Oneonta invites applications for a full-time position as Lecturer of Music and Music Industry beginning August 2023. Expectations include, but are not limited to teaching, student advisement, departmental service, and continuing professional development.
The Department of Music at SUNY Oneonta, offering BA Music and BA Music Industry degrees, is a fully accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) and has long been recognized for its Bachelor of Arts in Music Industry degree program. Duties include but not limited to: Teaching undergraduate courses in the general music and music industry curricula; involvement with the curriculum and administration of the music and music industry programs and advising students. Other duties may include music electives or courses that address other curricular needs or the candidate’s specific areas of expertise.

Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree at time of appointment in music, music industry, or related fields of study.
- Two or more years of professional experience in music or in music industry (e.g., marketing, A&R, music supervision, business and legal affairs, royalty administration, and/or music production).
- Experience with DAWs and recording equipment.
- Two or more years of successful experience teaching at the college/university, conservatory, or specialized music school level.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD or DMA in music or related fields.
- Background in music performance and knowledge of a wide range of contemporary music styles/genres.
- Proficiency in leading DAWs, such as Pro Tools, Ableton Live, Logic, FL Studio, and/or Reaper;
- Creative or professional experience with sound reinforcement for live events.
- International experience in music industry and/or music performance and/or music and media production.
- Teaching and/or scholarly/creative experience related to gender and women’s studies, the African or Latino Diasporas, or Indigenous Studies.
- Experience in teaching, mentoring, research, or service with diverse and/or multicultural populations.
Also Considered: Experience teaching undergraduate courses in history of popular music and other music history and literature courses, experience supervising or advising student internships.
