Announcement: ASSISTANT ARTS PROFESSOR, MUSIC BUSINESS
The Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music of New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts invites applications and nominations for a full-time Assistant Arts Professor position in Music Business to begin in Fall 2023. This is a full-time, multi-year, non-tenure track appointment.
Who We Are Looking For
We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed colleague on the forefront of the music industry’s cultural and technological developments who is excited by this exceptional opportunity to help our students become an integral part of the industry’s growth and transformation.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach core courses in music business entrepreneurship as well as business planning and development. The candidate must have, and be able to maintain, an active creative research or professional practice.
The candidate should also be able to teach a range of specialized music industry electives: those may include, but are in no way limited to, management, A&R, digital marketing, and social entrepreneurship. The candidate must demonstrate a thorough understanding of historical music business developments as well as contemporary ones, and must demonstrate keen insight into current platforms, technologies, and innovative business models.

The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate must show evidence of, or potential for, excellence in teaching music business through previous teaching experience at the undergraduate level, or the commensurate professional experience in the field. Candidates must demonstrate an ability to teach in and foster an inclusive classroom environment.
Additional responsibilities may include: departmental, school and university service, student advising and mentoring, new student recruitment, and other administrative responsibilities as designated by the Department Chair.
