The Firebird Label Services division provides Firebird Music’s artist, management, and label partners, as well as its wholly owned labels and repertoire, with access to all the resources needed to share their music with a global audience. FLS offers recorded music strategy, distribution, release management, marketing & promotion, and more to meet its partners’ creative and business needs.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The VP, Commercial will lead efforts in all recorded music commercial product endeavors including physical and digital sales, streaming, and Direct-to-Consumer. The Commercial department is one arm of Firebird Label Services (FLS) and works in conjunction with the other FLS departments to optimize and grow recorded music revenue streams for wholly owned repertoire as well as Firebird’s artist, management, and label partners.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Grow all recorded music revenue streams for artists, managers, and independent label partners who have opted in for Firebird Label Services
- Work with Firebird partners to meet all of their commercial needs, and guide them in evaluating market opportunity for each priority artist across consumption formats
- Responsible for retail financial forecasting
- Oversee Firebird’s global distribution efforts and manage relationships with third party distributors and delivery platforms
- Grow relationships with all physical and digital accounts, as well unique opportunities such as vinyl subscription services
- Oversee manufacturing of physical product for retailers, D2C, and touring/venue sales
- Strategize and execute domestic and international retail marketing campaigns and third party retail marketing partnerships, with timely featured positioning for our artists and labels, new and catalog releases, and other strategic initiatives
- Ensure that accounts are aware of Firebird priority releases through regular communication and music presentations, and develop strong relationships across multiple areas within the accounts, including content/editorial, product marketing, sponsorship, operations, reporting, executive levels, and related 3rd party service providers
- Drive new business initiatives with accounts to maximize revenue and exposure for artists, and participate in account specific initiatives i.e. themed sales, marketing opportunities, etc.
- Work closely with data and analytics team on market trends, gain insights, identify opportunities, and understand consumer behavior
- Share insight, analysis, and recommendations with accounts to improve our mutual businesses
- Lead frequent partner calls and business presentations with accounts
- Provide weekly release schedule including detailed information on marketing efforts around each release, and regularly communicate the status of artist campaigns, new initiatives, and other account activity to our internal team, artists, managers, and label partners
- Solve operations, reporting, technology, and business issues to ensure efficiency
QUALIFICATIONS
- You have 10+ years of commercial experience in the music industry
- Proven track record of sales and revenue growth
- A strong understanding of recorded music distribution, sales, and streaming, new release production, delivery, and technology issues
- Ability to take broad campaign concepts and translate into partner specific initiatives that result in sales/streams and impressions
- You have a track-record of productive relationships with artists, managers, and independent labels
- Experience in presenting to partners and senior level executives
- You are well versed in current popular music, cultural trends, and music industry operations, across genres
- You analyze situations and formulate actionable paths forward
- You are detail oriented and able to take a broad overview simultaneously
- You are a collaborative and supportive teammate

- You are a problem solver who’s able to multi-task and stay cool under pressure
- You are proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
EDUCATION REQUIRED
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
