The Firebird Label Services division provides Firebird Music’s artist, management, and label partners, as well as its wholly owned labels and repertoire, with access to all the resources needed to share their music with a global audience. FLS offers recorded music strategy, distribution, release management, marketing & promotion, and more to meet its partners’ creative and business needs.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Project Director collaborates with artist, management, and label partners to optimize new music release planning, develop and execute marketing strategies, and drive artist revenues. The Project Director also plays a “center-of-the-wagon-wheel” role with regard to coordinating the efforts of the various internal departments and external partners working on a given release.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with artists, managers, and label partners as their key point of contact to drive artist careers across revenue streams
- Quarterback working with various departments to set up new releases, drive marketing and artist development strategy, and implement creative marketing campaigns
- Guide partners in evaluating and forecasting market opportunity for each priority artist and/or product release
- Communicate creative asset specifications and delivery deadlines to partners
- Drive timely, quality-assured, and comprehensive asset delivery for a smooth production process
- Ensure label copy, credits, copyright, publishing details, PRO info, IRSCs, and catalog numbers are in place and shared appropriately
- Establish the overall project budget, allocate funds, and ensure responsible spending
- Lead the team by bringing all partners and departments together to collaboratively develop integrated sales, marketing, communications, and content strategies
- Work with partners to construct a comprehensive campaign timeline and drive deadlines
- Organize, set up, and lead meetings for key releases, and coordinate the team’s execution efforts, holding internal and external members accountable for their contributions
- Search out and create exposure opportunities for artists and help them connect with current and would-be fans via performances, grassroots marketing, community building campaigns, collaborations, promotional appearances, and more
- Devise a content strategy and oversee the development of said content, including music video commissioning, and make creative assets available to the team as necessary
- Provide account management team with key marketing & sales information on new releases, on-going priorities, and general artists and label activity
- Create weekly product performance reports and update stakeholders
QUALIFICATIONS
- You have 5+ years of experience in marketing, project management, and/or management within the music industry
- You are well versed in current popular music, cultural trends, and music industry operations, across genres
- You analyze situations and formulate actionable paths forward
- You are detail oriented and able to take a broad overview simultaneously
- Have a strong understanding of metadata, new release production, recorded music sales and streaming, and delivering to DSPs
- You have a track-record of productive relationships with artists, managers, and independent labels
- You are a collaborative and supportive teammate
- You are a clear and effective communicator with excellent writing skills
- You are empathetic to artists and their creative needs/wants
- You are a results-oriented self-starter… a starter and a closer
- You are well organized and flexible
- You are a problem solver who’s able to multi-task and stay cool under pressure
- You are proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
EDUCATION REQUIRED
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
