An exciting Investment Associate role in a start-up, private equity-backed music rights business, working with a small agile M&A team based in London. Candidates should have an understanding of corporate finance, experience with financial modelling, in particular, DCF valuations and strong data analysis skills with high proficiency in excel and the ability to write code (e.g. python) to aggregate and analyse large data sets.

Exciting role in a start-up, private equity-backed music rights business. The business was founded in 2021 by two senior executives with a long track record in the industry. Private equity backing was secured with a London-based private equity firm in late 2021. The group has ambitious plans to build a billion-dollar platform of music rights over the coming years.
The role involves working as part of a small and agile M&A team with exposure to all areas of the deal process including modelling, valuation, due diligence, execution and negotiation. It will also involve exposure to a wide range of stakeholders, working closely with the senior management team and interacting regularly with lawyers, accountants, managers, artists and investors
The role will report into the Chief Investment Officer

Responsibilities
- Carrying out financial modelling and DCF valuations on new investment opportunities
- Aggregating and analysing historical royalty statement data, often requiring consolidation and cleansing of various data inputs into structured formats to analyse further
- Producing investment memos for new investment opportunities
- Managing relationships with accountants, lawyers and due diligence providers
- Managing and updating the company deal pipeline
- Working with shareholders on raising debt and equity financing as the business grows
- Working on all aspects of deals including interacting with lawyers, accountants, managers and artists
Requirements
- Keen interest in music and the broader music industry
- Strong curiosity and desire to learn on the job
- Well-rounded individual who can also work as part of a team on a deal and interact effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
- Work experience 0-5 years
- Location: Preference to be London based but not a requirement
- Basic understanding of corporate finance
- Experience with financial modelling in excel, in particular DCF valuations
- Strong data analysis skills with high proficiency in excel and ability to write code (e.g. python) to aggregate and analyse large data sets
- Strong work ethic and drive, with willingness to roll-up sleeves as part of a small team
