Jeff Price is the Co-Founder and CEO of Word Collections, which licenses rights across music, spoken word and comedy to streaming services, digital broadcasters and audio/visual services.
In 1990, Price co-founded New York-based independent record label spinART records (Pixies, Echo & The Bunnymen, Apples In Stereo, Richard Thompson etc), which had strategic relationships with Sony, Warner Bros., Sire, Polygram Music Publishing and others.
Price launched music distribution and publishing administration platform TuneCore in 2006, enabling musicians and other rights-holders the opportunity to distribute and sell or stream their music through DSPs.
In June 2013, Price launched Audiam, which located metadata for every sound recording of a specific composition, recovering due mechanical rights revenue for songwriters, composers and music publishers.
It represented thousands of publishing/songwriting catalogues including Bob Dylan, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Metallica, Jack White, Jason Mraz and Steve Miller.
Audiam was acquired by Canadian collection society SOCAN in 2016 and Price left the company in 2020. in August 2021, SESAC bought a controlling stake in the company.
In July 2020, Price launched Word Collections with the mission of getting comedian and spoken word performers paid for the broadcast and other use of their literary works.Music Business Worldwide
