Production company ThreeDee Music Ltd. and Universal Music Germany have signed a deal for Dolby Atmos mixes.
The agreement applies to the GSA area (Germany, Switzerland, Austria) and is designed, according to a press release, “as a comprehensive, long-term and cross-label cooperation”.
This includes selected frontline releases as well as parts of the more recent back catalog.
ThreeDee Music claims to be the first production company in the world that can deliver larger order volumes of Dolby Atmos productions and mixes “within a compact processing period”.
“With this partnership, according to Tom Bohne, President Music Domestic, at Universal Music Germany, “we are giving fans the opportunity to enjoy music at the highest level of sound quality.
“We have been working with the Dolby Atmos format for a long time and have had excellent experiences. The leap in quality from Stereo to Dolby Atmos is remarkable.”

Added Bohne: “We have been working with the Dolby Atmos format for a long time and have had excellent experiences. The leap in quality from Stereo to Dolby Atmos is remarkable.
“A preliminary requirement entails being able to produce first-class mixes from stems, that is from consolidated audio tracks. Among others, we rely on our new partner ThreeDee Music. With its support, we will release a large number of singles and albums in Dolby Atmos in the near future.”
ThreeDee Music Ltd. was founded in 2021 by Matthias Stalter with studios and offices in the UK (London) and Germany (Munich).
Stalter previously worked at the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London as one of two in-house producers with their own production suite.
“I am very pleased that Universal Music is doing pioneering work here, and that they will work with us to ensure a uniform production structure and the highest quality standards for music in Dolby Atmos for its great artists in the future. I very much appreciate the trust placed in me by Tom Bohne!”

Matthias Stalter, CEO and founder of ThreeDee Music, added: “After the launch of Dolby Atmos on Apple Music, the new format has rapidly become a real-world standard for music. However, 3D music production is still uncharted territory for many creators.
“Therefore, we need to provide individual education to show artists, producers and their management the technical and creative aspects of Dolby Atmos. Of course, it is in the interest of all market participants to overcome critical scepticism about the format and to jointly establish best practices and reliable standards.

Dolby Atmos is becoming more of a prominent sound format.
In October 2022, Automotive giant Mercedes-Benz struck a multi-faced partnership with Universal Music Group and Apple Music for its cars to become the first non-Apple devices to offer Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos from Apple Music natively in a vehicle.
The partnership arrived over a year after Apple Music started offering Lossless Audio and Spatial Audio with support for Dolby Atmos on its platform at no additional cost.
Legendary music producer and songwriter Nile Rodgers was recently named as Apple Music‘s Artist in Residence, focusing on the implementation of Spatial Audio.Music Business Worldwide
