Spotify has launched another live music event, this time as an extension of its Hot Country branded playlist which has 4.5 million followers globally.
Titled Hot Country Live, the gig will be headlined by Carrie Underwood and takes place on 4th July at The Rooftop at Pier 17 venue in New York’s Seaport District.
Dan + Shay will open the show and additional artists will be announced at a later date.
Further concerts will take place in select cities nationwide and Spotify will continue to roll out new content, playlists, live events and more for country music fans.

Brittany Schaffer, Head of Artist and Label Marketing at Spotify’s Nashville office, said: “This year Spotify is making a concentrated effort to shine a spotlight on country music and to create a gathering place for country artists and fans to share and experience the people, stories, and spirit that define their community.
“This starts on platform in the Hot Country playlist and is brought to life through our unique live events, like Hot Country Live.
“I can’t imagine a better way to kick-off our premiere country music concert series then by bringing country fans the opportunity to honor America on the Fourth of July with Carrie Underwood and Dan + Shay!”
Today’s announcement follows Spotify’s RapCaviar Live US hip-hop six-date concert series that took place last year.
In the UK, the streaming service launched its first ever large-scale live music event in London in November, Who We Be.
And in February, Spotify was recruiting for two producers to launch urban and latin music themed concerts, performances, events and installations.
