Music made by Artificial Intelligence is arguably starting to be taken a lot more seriously in the music industry.
Last year, a stress-reducing sound app called Endel became the first-ever algorithm to release music on a major label (Warner Music Group) and we reported just last week how music made by Artificial Intelligence has started winning awards.
Now, music made by AI could be set to play a serious role in the production music business serving content creators, ad agencies, web agencies, sound designers and YouTubers.
BMG Production Music (BMGPM) has inked a deal with France-based AI-powered music-to-video platform MatchTune, which will initially see over 15,000 tracks from BMGPM’s catalog integrated into MatchTune and made available for use on the platform.
MatchTune, formerly known as Muzeek, was founded in 2017 by composer André Manoukian and tech entrepreneur Philippe Guillaud (pictured) and claims that its AI with music-to-image synchronisation algorithms can create unique variations of professional-standard music in seconds.
According to a press release, by “mapping…key moments from both music and video elements, MatchTune is able to sync beats, tones and energy maps precisely, having analysed moods, genres, instruments, BPM, pitch, voice and music with colour – as well as precisely detecting video scenes – resulting in unbiased, efficient music reconfiguration and synchronisation.”
Tracks are then “quickly and efficiently adapted to the visual content”, according to the company, thereby “removing the workload associated with complicated catalog searches, editing to picture and licensing”.
The resulting tracks can then be purchased with one upfront fee including a digital license for one year.
According to BMG Production Music France Managing Director Jérôme Keff, “in MatchTune, BMGPM has found a forward-thinking technology partner that respects the integrity of music composition while making tailored pieces all the more accessible to the increasing number of video creators today wanting to enhance their work with music”.
“Operating at the intersection of music and technology, we are showing how AI can add value to both copyright owners and to music users.”

Philippe Guillaud, Co-Founder/CEO at MatchTune, said: “MatchTune is delighted to be able to work with BMGPM and demonstrate how we can help existing music catalogues and artists find a broader audience by removing the lengthy integration work required in matching music and video content, as well as finding the right tracks.
