Saudi Arabia’s Rotana Music has signed a strategic partnership with music streaming service Anghami, that will see Rotana’s content be made available on the platform worldwide.
Music released by Rotana, which is claimed to be the largest record label in the Middle East, was previously available on Deezer exclusively in the MENA region since 2018, the year the France born service launched in MENA.
Warner Music Group bought a minority stake in Rotana Music in February last year.
Rotana Music is home to prominent Arab artists including Mohammad Abdo, Abdul Majeed Abdullah, Rashid Al Majid, Abdullah Al Ruwaished, Majed Al Mohandes, Rabeh Saqr, Nawal Al Kuwaitiya, Ahlam, in addition to Amr Diab , Assala, Elissa, Tamer Hosni, Najwa Karam, Sherine Abdel Wahab, Angham, Wael Kfoury, Saber Al-Rubai and others from the Levant, Egypt and North Africa.
Rotana also claims to be the largest producer of video clips in the Arab world.
Anghami says that the deal marks a reunion between the two entities, with Rotana being named as one of Anghami’s key partners when it launched in 2012.
The deal, concluded in Riyadh between Mr. Salem Al Hindi, CEO of Rotana Music Holding and Eddy Maroun, Anghami’s Co-founder and CEO, follows the news of Anghami listing on the NASDAQ in New York.
Anghami reports to have more than 75 million registered users with around 1 billion streams per month, and a catalog of more than 75 million songs.
Established in 1993, Rotana Music Holding is the largest record label and music repertoire holder in the Arab world, with Saudi legend Mohammad Abdo and seven of Forbes Middle East’s Top 10 Arab Singers within its portfolio.
Earlier this month, Anghami also signed an exclusive multi-year deal with global Arab megastar Amr Diab to be the only platform to stream his entire label’s catalog and future releases.
