Hazel Savage, Music Intelligence VP at SoundCloud, has joined B2B streaming technology specialist Tuned Global as a non-executive board member.
UK-based Savage will primarily focus on supporting growth across EMEA, US and APAC territories.
Tuned Global says that Savage’s arrival “will offer an independent perspective on decisions around strategy, governance and future technology direction”.
The addition of Savage comes after the recent appointment of Rick Gleave in the UK, as SVP Head of Europe & MENA, plus the expansion of the Tuned Global team in Europe.
Following roles at Shazam, Pandora, Universal Music and HMV, Savage founded Artificial Intelligence music curation company Musiio in 2018.
The firm was acquired by SoundCloud in 2022 to bolster the music platform’s discovery capabilities.
Tuned Global says that Savage’s appointment to its board builds on a successful existing relationship, having already worked together on various client projects.
Some of those projects include Thailand’s first localized streaming app, Plern from the market’s largest media and entertainment conglomerate, GMM Grammy, as well as music for games tech firm Reactional Music and Music services provider Rehegoo Music Group.
Tuned Global integrated technology from Musiio into its API back in March.
Founded in 2011, Tuned Global runs offices in Australia, the UK and the US. The company helps telcos, brands, enterprises and startups globally launch, run and grow a music streaming service or project.
Tuned Global has previously worked on custom apps for the likes of Warner Music Group (on a custom Ed Sheeran app), and Universal Music Group and Pizza Hut, and its technology also powers the UFC Ultimate Sounds app in the US, and Deedo, a Pan-African streaming service in Europe and Africa.
Elsewhere, Tuned Global announced earlier this year that it’s powering a custom-made children’s streaming service called Gabb Music in the US from mobile technology firm Gabb Wireless.
The company is also active in the fitness industry.
