The Orchard has an immediate opening for a Business and Legal Affairs person to join our London office. As a qualified lawyer you will help to support the day to day Business and Legal Affairs needs and requirements of The Orchard, a Music Distribution and Artist & Label services company based in London.

A passion for music and the industry is a must. Your professional and confident approach will enable you to build and maintain strong relationships with your colleagues and external clients.

What You’ll Do
  • Drafting, negotiating and finalising label distribution deals.
  • Drafting, negotiating and finalising synchronisation licenses.
  • Reviewing, negotiating and finalising vendor services agreements.
  • Drafting, negotiating and signing amendments, extensions and terminations as needed.
  • Working with legal resources globally to refine and update standard contract forms.
  • Co-managing legal claim resolution processes.
  • Drafting and negotiating label distribution and artist services agreements, including amendments and extensions of existing contracts.

Who You Are
  • Law Degree and 2-4 years of experience in a similar position and industry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of music copyright law.
  • Experience with distribution contracts.
  • Specialised knowledge throughout all facets of the music business.
  • Highly organised with an ability to track and prioritise a high volume of projects and adjust to changing priorities.
  • Extensive experience with sound recording licensing practices (preferred).
  • Spanish fluency (a plus; but not required).
