The company is based in Oslo, Norway, with facilities including both offices and a recording studio complex consisting of 8 studios. Its roster includes the likes of global superstar Alan Walker, upand-coming artist K-391, and Grammy-nominated songwriter Mood Melodies, in addition to a variety of songwriters where MER work closely with Sony/ATV and Stellar Songs in a joint venture music publishing setup

About the position:

MER Recordings, a division of MER Group, is amongst the leading independent record labels in the Nordics, and has been a key figure in the region with a successful international track record since its beginning. The company is now looking for a competent and devoted person to join the team as the new Label Manager. MER is looking for someone with a strong professional aptitude and a genuine interest for the field of work, and someone who’s not afraid to roll up their sleeves when needed. A thorough understanding and interest in the music industry is imperative to succeed in this position. Together with the company and its executive group, the label manager will be able to develop both personally and career wise and play an important part in structuring the label division of the company.

Key responsibilities:
  • Overall management of the company’s label division, and its releases
  • Continuous project and product management for the entire roster of recording artists
  • Work closely with all external partners worldwide, including licensees and its affiliates, as well as other sales partners
  • Plan and schedule new releases
  • Strategic development, coordination and execution of promotional activities and campaigns, in close cooperation with the company’s content division, with the objective to promote single releases and overall artist brands
  • Set qualitative and quantitative targets for single releases, artist brands and projects, as well as the label division as a whole
  • Map out and identify new and existing market trends within the industry
  • In charge of project-related budgets, as well as overseeing the label division’s team members
  • Develop and maintain the company’s network of relationships within the industry
  • Analyze and evaluate ongoing and concluded release campaigns
  • Frequent documentation and delivery of reported progress and sales to the company’s executive group
  • Manage and oversee the label’s product catalog
Qualifications and wanted attributes:
  • A minimum of 3 years related working experience in the music industry, within areas such as: marketing, promotion, artist management, PR, project management or similar.
  • Strong communications skills, both verbally and in writing
  • A strong sense of knowledge and understanding of the music industry, as well as a genuine interest in both the industry and overall pop culture
  • Strong knowledge and familiarity of social media, including interpretation of online analytic tools
  • An understanding of various regional business cultures, and a general multicultural sensibility and tolerance
  • Ability to travel internationally on occasion
  • Must enjoy and thrive in a high energy work environment
  • An ability to work autonomously as well as in teams, and a strong ability to lead smaller teams
  • Structured and precise in your work, with an attention to details
  • A strong ability to maintain and build working relationships, both within the team as well as with external partners
  • “Off hours” work is to be expected, as a result of time differences
