Primary Wave is seeking an enthusiastic entrepreneurial colleague who will be part of the Investments team responsible for evaluating and analyzing potential catalog acquisition opportunities. This role reports to the VP of Investments.

Ideally, you must have relevant music industry work experience analyzing various revenue streams associated with music IP. This may include summarizing royalty statements (across recordings & publishing), preparing historical royalty summaries, aggregating and analyzing large electronic data sets, reviewing music industry contracts, and summarizing key deal terms.

You must be able to work collaboratively. Over time, you will be expected to build strong relationships with Primary Wave executives and outside representatives such as business managers, lawyers, deal brokers, artist managers, investors, auditors, royalty departments, etc.

Prior experience in music royalty preparations, music industry revenue collection flows, valuations, and/or financial due diligence engagements is a plus.


To be successful, you should have
  • Bachelor’s degree required, with 2+ years of relevant music royalty work experience
  • Experience with valuation, royalty audit, or transactional financial due diligence engagements
  • Strong proficiency in Excel with excellent modeling skills required, bonus points for experience with Power Pivot, Power Query, and/or programming languages.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a track record of dealing with external representatives (business management firms, attorneys, royalty departments at publishers and/or labels) are a plus
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to adjust to evolving priorities in stride; able to maintain composure during challenging circumstances
  • Must be self-motivated with a willingness to approach challenges as an opportunity to develop and learn

Your responsibilities as the Jr. Investment Analyst will include:
  • Analyze historical data royalty statements from various sources such as performing rights organizations, publishers, record labels, SoundExchange, and neighboring rights societies to suggest and guide investment decisions.
  • Prepare and maintain extensive financial cash flow models, analyze historical catalog trends, identify anomalous items and assess the impact thereof on the transaction, present pros/cons of potential catalog opportunities, and project performance, returns, and tax consequences
  • Review contracts and summarize underlying IP rights and royalty provisions.
  • Work with outside financial and legal due diligence firms during the negotiation of such transactions
  • Assist with post-deal closing and reporting processes; interface with marketing, synchronization, finance, and royalty groups.

This position’s estimated base salary range is $75,000 to $90,000 per year. The actual salary rate offered to candidates will depend on various factors, including, without limitation, years of relevant experience, business needs, and the candidate’s overall qualifications for the position as assessed by Primary Wave. The salary range is subject to change at any time, depending on internal and external factors.
